Recreation & Play Areas
The Council is responsible for the Recreation Field in Wrington as well as for the Church Walk play area, but not for the play equipment in Redhill. Any enquiries about the Redhill facilities should be directed to Janet Bell, Secretary, on 01934 862376.
The Recreation Field is maintained on behalf of the Council by the Wrington Memorial Hall & Recreation Field Committee. The Committee rents the football pitch to the Wrington & Redhill Football Club and the cricket pitch to the Wrington Cricket Club. The tennis courts are leased from the Council by the Wrington Lawn Tennis Club but are available for use at certain times (see the notice at the tennis courts) by all parish residents. Bookings require 24 hours notice and can be made through Fiona Burke, Committee Secretary/Treasurer on 01934 863984.
The whole of the Recreation Field can be used by members of the public other than for the cricket square, although we urge everyone to keep their dogs on leads and to remove any dog mess. This is an ongoing concern and could even result in dogs being banned at some point if the problem is not resolved.
Enquiries about any organised use of the Recreation Field should be directed to Fiona Burke (details above) or to Darren Dyer, our Caretaker/Groundsman, on 01934 862898.
The Church Walk play area is leased from the Diocese of Bath & Wells, by a long term lease. This covers both the play area and the adjacent field.
Note that the Pavilion on the Recreation Field is leased from the Council by the Wrington Sports & Social Club Ltd (WSSC). WSSC’s use is limited to the interior of the building and it has no role or responsibility for any external activities. Similarly, users of the Recreation Field have no formal right to use or access WSSC’s facilities.
